Fuel Chemistry and Characterization Laboratory
National Renewable Energy Laboratory
Description
Characterization of jet/diesel fuels, including SAF. Freeze point, derived cetane number, flashpoint, heat of combustion, viscosity (-60C to 315C, up to 80 atm), density (-10C to 200C, up to 500 atm), surface tension (-35 to 400C, up to 80 atm), simulated distillation by GC, analysis by GCxGC-TOF-MS, thermal analysis including pressure-enthalpy diagram and heat capacity. Combustion kinetics studies in laminar flow reactor (600K to 1200K, up to 10 atm). Constant volume ignition delay. Storage stability studies.
